DR VS CR

What’s The Difference Between DR & CR Medical Imaging?

One common question we receive from our customers here at MedSouth is what’s the difference between DR & CR imaging systems?

DR vs. CR Medical Imaging

DR, short for digital radiography, and CR, short for computed radiography, are both used to produce digital images via x-rays.  One key difference is that CR systems still utilize a cassette housing an imaging plate, which is similar to a traditional analog system, while a digital radiography system directly captures the image onto a flat panel detector, forgoing the need for a cassette.

The digital images produced by either may be worked with in any way, however, different industries or particular applications may call for one form of system over the other.
